Years of battling my own mental health demons made me realize how inaccessible and stigmatized support often is. I’m not alone. Across the globe, the mental health crisis continues to grow, straining existing resources and leaving too many people feeling lost and unsupported.

Technology alone won’t solve this complex problem, but it can be part of the solution. That’s why I’m building Dal Tokki, an AI-powered chatbot designed to offer a safe, non-judgmental space for those seeking mental health support.

Dal Tokki: A Compassionate Listener

At its core, Dal Tokki is about providing empathetic interaction. While it cannot replace professional therapy, it utilizes natural language processing to detect the emotions behind a user’s words.

This allows it to respond in ways that mirror the understanding and validation often found in human conversation.

Knowledge for Empowerment

Dal Tokki also houses a growing knowledge base focused on mental health. The goal is to provide accessible, reliable information, reducing the anxiety and uncertainty that often accompany mental health struggles.

Informed by Science, Evolving with Feedback

Dal Tokki’s approach draws on established principles of supportive communication and is informed by the broader field of mental health research. It’s still under development, but the goal is to create a tool that people trust and find genuinely helpful on their mental health journey.

The Future of Support

I envision Dal Tokki evolving over time. Features like guided relaxation exercises or connecting users with relevant resources are on the long-term roadmap. The most important thing is building a foundation of trust and demonstrating the potential of AI in mental health care.
