This is definitely an “odd one out” post, purely for the fun of it!
Calling all Moomoos! (Because let’s be honest, who else would be reading a blog post about MAMAMOO lyrics this enthusiastically?)
This is your official “fan service” post, after seeing so many international fans struggle with the cultural context, and also some of the jokes being lost in translation from English to Korea, often because they are translated literally that adds to the confusion, so I thought I would try to clear some of it up for you.
For those who might not be familiar with the K-Pop scene, MAMAMOO is a beloved girl group known for their powerful vocals and catchy tunes.
This is a re-visit of AZE GAG, a track from 2017, but considered a classic.
As some of you might know, the concept of cheesy, pun-heavy jokes transcends cultures. In English, we call them “dad jokes.”
In Korea, they have a similar term: “아재개그” (ajaegaegeu), which literally translates to “middle-aged man jokes.”
