These "X startup will kill Google!" articles always pop up, but they're mostly clickbait.

Big tech is entrenched: Giants have brand power, cash reserves, and influence that make them practically impossible to displace.

It's not just the product:

Success is as much about execution, business models, and playing the long game as it is about having a superior idea.

Disruption is gradual: Even when big shifts happen, the giants usually adapt, not die. Look at Microsoft's evolution.

The article DOES make a decent point about Perplexity's streamlined search model. But, it ignores that Google likely won't sit still on that innovation.

Plus, how will Perplexity make money without ads? And importantly, AI-powered search needs to be trustworthy—that's hard to achieve.

It's healthy to be skeptical about bold disruption claims. The real world is messier than these dramatic headlines.
